RPI Chameleon it's a Raspbian remix without the X grpahical environment that uses it's own launcher to run emulators for old computers, arcades and consoles.

All changes to the system are open source and use the GPL license.

I hope you love it as I do.

(don't shutdown the computer on the screensaver ;-) )

I'm running V0.3.1 and have it connected to an old tv. Unfortunately chameleon seems to sometimes switch to ntsc, making the screen flicker or run vertically. I have fiddled with different settings but haven't had any luck of fixing it. Any ideas?

Love the build! Question

Love the build! Question though. I'm currently running an SNES rom, and there is a very obvious lag in both audio and video. I set the audio options to "HDMI" (which is how I'm connected), and I'm getting the same lag. I also tried to do the "configure some emulators", but it was saying I'm missing a file. I'm running version 3.1. Any ideas?

be real cool to have

be real cool to have *wifi tool *nintendo 64 *controler support and for some reson i cant get my sound tru my hdmi iv changed the setting but it doesnt come out iv tryed diff cables diff ports on the tv but nothing

I cannot get anything to work

I cannot get anything to work in VICE. The screen is too small, and most disk images won't load for some reason. Additionally I had no luck running Amstrad games on Caprice... when I press F6 to select a disk image, nothing happens. Did any of you have these problems? How did you solve them?

Carles,

Carles, Many thanks for your work, fantastic stuff. I hope you continue with it and I look forward to V3. BTW the Speccy is definitely the greatest computer (I have 2 and pulled it out to play Manic Miner)

Hi. Thanks very much for

Hi. Thanks very much for Chameleon Pi For the Raspberry & many many thanks for this environment of emulators. I luv my Pi. Is there a way to add Rom to the emulators without internet or wi-fi access? I don't have internet access or conection, I don't want or I can't afford a internet package, and many Pi owners/users don't have internet access. I have to go to a internet cafe or the library to use the internet. My setup is a Raspberry Pi (256MB), 32 GB Virbatim SD card, usb keyboard & mouse and an old 15" portable tv (crt). I have DVD-writer with I use my Netbook & Laptop, I have tried & used it with Pi. its ok, but sometimes keyboard goes crazy when I use Raspbian “wheezy”, Risc os seems to need some extra software. Could you please add or put a menu into Chamelon Pi that me & other Pi users/owners can access the OS, if I can access the OS, I can transfer/copy the files over nomally & easy. And it will save time, wear & tear on the Raspberry Pi's hardware (SD slot), and I can access & use the OS to do my work or other things. I will look forward to see the next version. Yours sincerely Justin

Mainly all you ask are in

Mainly all you ask are in readme or in web manual. press T for console you can access directly the sd using linux or any software to read ext file system. On next version will be a fat partition for people with windows/mac. About the keyboard I'm not a technician but seems a bad contact. about share the sd for pi emulator and other work is not a good idea. And I've done it to do a specific old systems emulator and you will not have an x environment. Ah... the release v0.3 is very very close.

Hi!

Hi! I just installed Chameleon and everything seems ok. How can i change the size of the writing in terminal? It's too small to read, so please keep that in mind. I need some terminal commands without beeing able to read the screen. One more thing, i can't connect to the wireless rooter. It has a password and i don't know how to connect to it. Maybe it's possible through terminal, but i don't know how. Please help

Unable to extract using Zip

Unable to extract using Zip file, have downloaded it so many times using U torrent and Bit Torrent, always seem to be getting the error message as below Error Message xtracting to "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Downloads\ch\" Use Path: yes Overlay Files: no Extracting chameleon_v021.img Irrecoverable Error: Invalid compressed data stream (cannot decompress). Please help!

I am probably missing

I am probably missing something obvious (I am new to Linux). I have sucessfully installed chameleon and can access the help screens, terminal etc. In the instructions above HOW TO LOAD ROMS, it states "Browse the network with your computer for rpichameleon (smb share)". where (& how) do i do this please? thank you for your help.

i can't get the compressed

i can't get the compressed file to unzip, i download from torrent than when i try yo unzip i get Extracting file: C:\Users\***Downloads\chameleon_v02.img.bz2 Extracting to "C:\Users\***\Downloads\chameleon_v02.img\" Use Path: yes Overlay Files: no Extracting chameleon_v02.img Irrecoverable Error: Invalid compressed data stream (cannot decompress). have tried izarc and winzip17, downloaded v01 and v02 same error on both, using utorrent client

Brilliant stuff.

Brilliant stuff. I've gone a bit retro and acquired over the last few months a working Spectrum with ZivIDE interface, Vic-20, C64 with SD2IEC and recently installed a 4Gb CompactFlash into my Amiga A1200. I set them up alongside my PS1 (Fat), PS2 (Fat and slim), Wii, XBox 360 and PS3. Gaming heaven, but it's a lot of faff and cables! Your solution is much more elegant, if not quite as nerdy. Please keep the project alive :)

Carles

Carles Many thanks, Atari 2600 kept me up all night. Next thing is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NSM8lV_r2o Or Bluetooth 2600 Joystick

Hmm.. can't dump it to my 4Gb

Hmm.. can't dump it to my 4Gb card, dd bs=1M if=chameleon.img of=/dev/mmcblk0 results in dd: writes '/dev/mmcblk0': Not enough room on device 3840+0 blocks in 3839+0 blocks out Maybe make it autoresizeable on first bootup, like the raspbian image? so it can be put on smaller cards?

Looks great... But I could

Looks great... But I could not install it... Can you help me? I have tried with 2 different 4GB SD card, and both has a problem that the image is bigger than the card (according to the Win32DiskImager, which I wanted to use for copy the image to the cards). After that I have tried to use a 16GB SD card. The image copy was successful in this case, but when starting the Pi, I did not get the launcher, just an error... after a quite a long time... The basic info from the error messages is the following: "Kernel panic - not syncing, VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(179,2)" Any ideas?

My RPI set up is HDMI for video out and a speaker plugged in the audio jack.. I got sound to work as follows (only tested on fuse emulator) Press T on the selector screen to open the terminal sudo amixer cset numid=3 1 exit

mc,

mc, Thanks for the suggestion. This worked great for the NES emulator on my pi.
